This is my second visit to Melaka and also second time stay at River One Guest House. Guess what? Fall in love with this place... As usual Mr William the host ..very cheerful and helpful guy update me the current event in Melaka. He bring me to Aloha Club ( with other guest from New Zealand - 2 persons + German - 2) so.. All of us are 6 person. That club was great entertainment which have live band music and disco..Mr William know the owner of the personally ... we got vvip table and welcome ( personally greet by the owner - 1 of Melaka tycoon ) also very cheap beer..

The River One is certainly value for money, but it's really basic. If you're looking for comfort, this is not the place (shower was cold in the morning). On the other hand, location is good, the room is clean and the people are friendly.
Cold showers poor noise isolation

It gives a home like feelings and the rate is very affordable. It is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The back of the Guest House, is the river hence it offers a nice space for a beer and to relax during sunset period. Amenities and good foods are around corner. The famous Malacca landmarks and tourist attractions are within walking distance.
The room lacks storage space such as wardrobe. For those who are light sleepers, I recommend that you do not take the rooms facing the street, as the vehicle movement noise could disturb yr sleep.

The location itself is the main reason why we stayed at River One. All the places to go is within walking distance Jonker Street? Like 3-5mins away. It's my first experience to stay in a guest house I was afraid that the place will be uncoftable but river one proved me wrong. This is one of the conftable places i've been to. Homey room, great owner Terrie is really helpful made our stay memorable. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. View of the river is really great. Clean toilets :) m&g

Very friendly & helpful staff! The host makes you feel like home! Backdoor goes straight to the melaka river with beautiful view!
It would perfect with a private bathroom, even it comes at a surcharge!

* Excellent location - right next to Jonker St * Very clean - room, sitting area, toilets, kitchen, etc * Room - basic furniture, but comfortable * Staff - really friendly & hospitable * Price - excellent value for money
* Pet (cat) allowed to roam the entire building - including kitchen. It is not hygienic!

The location is great, very relaxing as it is right beside the river and it s close to all major attractions in melaka. We enjoyed our stay so much, William is very helpful and considerate, would def. Stay again if going back
The room face the street can be a little noisy with all motorbikes weaving through. But we were so tired from site seeing that didn't bother us at all, although do avoid this side of the room if you intent to have a quiet night.

The guest house was great. There was hardly anything more that one could ask for in such an establishment. The place was generally clean and comfortable. Everything was well maintained and in good working condition. The location was good and just a stones throw from the Chinatown night street market. It had a good view of the Malacca river which was just behind the guest house. There were even a table and chairs out back where you can sit and enjoy the river view. Most importantly, the service was good. The owner William was very helpful to everyone and even allowed us to use the hose to wash our bird droppings coated cars in front of the guest house before leaving.
If you drive, parking can be difficult to find. Make sure you stay away from the trees unless you want to have your car peppered full of bird droppings.

Very convenient for soaking up all the sights of Chinatown. The riverside location is also lovely.
Our room next to the street was very noisy. The staff were very friendly, but not always available.
